PDFescape is designed as a general PDF editor and form filler, not as a security tool. While it offers a "whiteout" feature to cover text, this is purely cosmetic—the underlying text remains in the document and can be extracted by anyone with basic PDF tools.

Wipeout takes a fundamentally different approach. We don't just cover sensitive data—we remove it permanently. Our scanning engine finds hidden metadata, embedded objects, and other data that PDFescape doesn't even acknowledge exists. Our redaction process flattens all layers and optionally sanitizes the PDF structure to prevent recovery.
